From birth, to marriage through till death, the church is always here. These are defining moments. A baptism celebrates the birth of a new baby but also the birth of a new spirit, a marriage marks the union of two people who vow to love, while the death of someone we love marks the end of life and a rebirth with the Lord. In these pages you'll be able to find out more about baptism, weddings and funerals, and how the church can support you.
Baptism
We're delighted you're thinking of baptism for your child. Your child is precious to you and precious to God. At baptism you promise to raise your child to know God loves them, and to help them to follow Jesus as a member of the Church. Baptism is, in fact, an entry into a Christian life and a response to the goodness which God has show us.
Weddings
Congratulations! You're welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs, whetherb or not you are christened and whether or not you regularly go to church. Although there are many places you can get married, a church wedding is still important for many couples. Church weddings don’t cost a fortune, and churches are beautiful, historic venues. And marrying in church has never been easier.
Funerals
A funeral is used to mark the end of a person's life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, to remember and give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God's keeping. Preparing for a funeral is often a stressful experience, and when you are grieving the last thing you want to deal is to deal with paperwork. Here you can find some resources to help you in the process.
